Always Fun!

Every Mayo Clinic Orientation has it's own fun moments. This is Abdullahi Jimale. He came back from a morning break at MCO to find his sister looking at him from the screen. She's featured on one of our welcome slides. What are the odds?

What is your favorite story of when you started? I love hearing them!

Wow, that is so cool! Thanks for sharing.

After orientation I was onboarded by some great individuals within my work unit. One of the people that "took me under her wing" was about the same age as my mom, who lives in Montana, so she happily became my Mayo mom. I appreciated that a lot as a new employee.

This is exactly the kinds of stories I love. I met Marilyn Smith that day, and as I'm sure many people can relate, she had my heart from Day 1. There are people that God put on this earth whose very existence makes the world a better place!

I am honored that I get to welcome our new employees as a presenter at Mayo Clinic Orientation. It is especially memorable when I recognize a familiar face at MCO or when one of our new staff stop me in the hallway to let me know that they are doing well in their new job. Choosing to come to Mayo Clinic was a significant decision that shaped my career and my life. I am blessed to get to be a part of the first day for so many others that made the same choice.

@anntorkelson Ann, you presented at the MCO I attended -- and I still remember your story! So glad I've gotten to work with you.
