National Pollinator Week

June 17th through 23rd is National Pollinator Week!

Pollinators, which include over 200,000 different species of insects, mammals, and birds, are responsible for fertilizing over 275,000 different types of plants around the world, including approximately 1/3 of the food we eat. Without them, our food would be less tasty and abundant, and our economy would suffer as pollinators contribute to nearly $20 billion worth of products each year.

Unfortunately, pollinator populations are dying off at alarming rates, but there are a lot of things you can do to help them recover. Check out http://www.pollinator.org/pollinator-week for great ideas, such as how to create pollinator habitat at your home, events happening near you, and ways to engage others!

Do you have specific things you’ve done to help support pollinators? Let us know!
