Bike Commuting - Helpful Tips?

May 18th is National Bike to Work Day. Calling all bicycle commuters - do you have helpful tips to share to get someone started? What do you wear? Where do you park? Any life-hacks to make the commute simple and enjoyable?

Ozmun in downtown Rochester is where I park. Tough trek in the downtown area by bike, as you have to ride with the cars on the street or walk your bike on the sidewalks. Protected bike lanes like they have in Minneapolis would be nice to have here.

Ozmun in downtown Rochester is where I park. Tough trek in the downtown area by bike, as you have to ride with the cars on the street or walk your bike on the sidewalks. Protected bike lanes like they have in Minneapolis would be nice to have here.

There's been quite a bit of local discussion about protected bike lanes lately, especially with the north Broadway project. I agree, it would be great to see the city install protected bike lanes!
