Challenged right now with Achilles tendonitis pain – have been struggling with it for the past few months but has gotten significantly worse in last 30 days. concerned about being able to do the 5K! had a couple of chiropractic adjustments last week that have helped a little.
Achilles tendonitis is a tough one. I've been battling that off and on for the last 2 years. A few things that have really helped:
1. Take an entire week off, don't worry about the training plan. You'll be okay.
2. During that week off, foam roll your calves, hamstrings, quads, IT band, and most importantly your foot using a lacrosse ball or golf ball.
3. Check with your chiropractor or physician about icing or heat on your achilles. I know for me ice helps a lot.
4. Shoes – if you haven't gotten a shoe assessment I would recommend checking out your local running store to make sure you have the right shoes. This is step #1 before inserts.
