New To Rochester

Hey! I am currently new to Rochester and was wondering what places are good to eat at? I know about all the chain restaurants like B-Dubs, Red Lobster, etc. But I want to go to some good local establishments that have amazing food! What are your favorites?

I don't live in Rochester, but when I am there my "go to" place is Forager brewery. They have the BEST pizza. Fresh ingredients, great atmosphere and great service.

Hi Jared, here are a few of my favorites....
For Italian, I like Victoria's
Burgers: Newts or Hot Chip
Unique: Twigs (order a 'hot-rock')
BBQ: John Hardy's
Vietnamese: Pho Chau (just tried it last month (had the Pad Thai) and was really pleased)

A short drive from Rochester in Kasson is the Misplaced Magnolia. Great southern style food and BBQ. Small Mom & Pop style restaurant. They do a dry rub on their meats. Their brisket is delicious! Worth the drive.

Wildwood Sports Bar is also good and they do a variety of themes...currently Wild Game Month with Pheasent, Duck, Wild Boar, Camel, and Antelope burgers.

Ootori Sushi is great and will make special orders when needed. The Loop has really good food, but can be pricey. (they also have great cocktails). Porch & cellar for fantastic hcicken.

bar scene...craft beers? Tap House, Forager Brewery, Little Thistle Brewing & Whistle Binkies
Mixed drinks? The Loop, Bar Buffalo, Cellar (of Porch & Cellar), Pescara

Casablanca's located in Barlow Plaza is amazing. If you travel outside of Rochester drive west on Highway 14 to Mantorville to try the Hubbell House.

Saints on Second has an awesome blackened steak sandwich, sticky chicken, and thai wings. They are like no other restaurants.

Nupa: Mediterannean
Terza: Italian
Chester's
Tap House
Ichi Tokyo: all you can eat Sushi
Thai: Mango Thai

Surprisingly, the tap house actually does really good tacos.

On the veg side of things these are the places we go:
Old Abe Coffee Shop
Tonic
Taco JED
Casablanca - Tagine and beautiful salads
Ootori - they will adjust any roll they make to accommodate special diets
The Loop's veggie burger is the best
Chester's vegetarian chili
