New Grad - Moving From CA to MN - RN License Endorsement Advice

Posted by corgilover99 @corgilover99, Mar 17, 2022

Hi everyone! I am excited to start my RN journey at Mayo in the Summer!
Does anyone have any experience with licensure endorsement and know how long it takes to receive the Minnesota permanent RN license?
I was told that there have been some instances of New Grads temporary permit expiring once the 60-days is up, they are not able to practice and have to wait for the permanent license thus impacting orientation.
I called the Minnesota BRN and they said they cannot give me an estimate on how long it takes.
However, California now uses Nursys to verify licenses as of March 10, 2022 and I heard this should make the process faster.

Hi there! So I’m also in the process with getting my MN license and it depends I’ve heard any where between 3-4 weeks. But I personally wouldn’t wait to long just in case there’s any issues.

Awesome that's great to hear! Thanks for your reply. I thought it was going to take 6 months-year for some reason

I think now the California is using Nursy it might be sooner but I definitely would suggest starting the process ASAP just as a precaution 🙂 feel free to message me if you have any questions!

I agree with CaylaRoss10. It’s better to started ASAP. MN Board of nursing are backed up right now, the earlier you apply the better just to be save. It took me 2 months for them to process my application.
