New to Rochester
Hi there! My name is Tyson. I'm moving from the west coast. I'm interested in getting to know about you. It appears I'm not the only expat coming to Rochester, and in the upcoming winter months, it's going to be lonely. Let's get to know eachother, hangout and explore all the great food of Rochester, and find activites for the cold. Hot chocolate? Game nights? Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, Disney +, Ignore the news? Try to avoid talking about the stress at the hospital.
Attached are my two dogs, they'd like to meet you too! Let's make our move less stressful 🙂 More the merrier. Message me 🙂

Hi Tyson!
Will you be at the downtown campus or St. Mary's? I'll be moving out there with my husband starting in October. I'll be at St. Mary's doing 6 months on an acute floor then moving to the ED. My husband and I are both new to Rochester, and we certainly enjoy all of those activities!
Super cute pups too!!
Awesome Arianna! I'll be in at St Mary's too! 🙂 I look forward to meeting you and your husband 🙂
Thank you!
Hey, Tyson (and Arianna). My name is Wyatt and I will be moving from Seattle in a few days. I will be working in pediatric surgery on the St. Mary's campus. I think my orientation is on the 30th so not sure if there is any overlap there. I would absolutely be interested in doing a game night or something. I am a big hiker but I have a hunch winter will make us all want to stay indoors!
Wyatt! My dude! I'm moving from Portland, just down the way. (Want to carpool?) Lol.
That is amazing. I love hiking too. I'm not going to lie, pandemic life has put me quite out of it. I will be there by the 30th. However, for some reasons, I had to move my start date out a little bit. Please join, I look forward to meeting you.
What's bringing you to Rochester?
Thanks,
T
Would carpool if I could, but I'm driving over with my dad. I'll be there on the...15th? Maybe 16th.
I'll be over a bit East of the st. Mary campus.
I'm moving for a nurse residency position. I used to work at seattle cancer care alliance as an LPN but they apparently did not want me as an RN.
I figured that the Mayo Clinic has a pretty good reputation and can offer me first class education and having "Mayo Clinic" on my resume will make future job hunting super easy.
What department will you be working in?
🙂
Wyatt!!
Dude, I knew I liked you - I was an LPN before I was ever an RN. Such great experience. You're going to be far ahead of the game. I had a similar experience when I was transitioning from LPN to RN. The place I worked at, reportedly didn't need an RN then after I left, they hired one. Lol, such as life!
Cool! I'm driving with my dad too. I'll also be working at Saint Mary's maybe I'll see you 🙂
I'm an ECMO specialist. (I'm an ICU nurse by training. What about you? Where will you be working?
Tyson
You as well? Way cool! Look at us, best friends already!
ECMO and ICU? Dude, save some expertise for the rest of us!
My background as an LPN is outpatient surgery, infusion nursing, and I worked in the lab at scca - accessing ports, piccs/Hickman lines, and starting lots of IVs.
At mayo, I will be doing procedural sedation for pediatric patients!
Yes! I'm glad I did it that way! It really was a wonderful way to get to know the nursing process, and really start practicing prior to being an RN.
That is awesome. I really bed that those pedi patients will love how much experience you have with the 'pokes' we are lucky to have you at Mayo, specifically for the pediatric population.
Hey tyson! I'll be new to the area in September. I'm moving from New Orleans, Louisiana! I'll work overnight in the laboratory. Hopefully see ya arround
@lawre88 Hi! I'm really glad to meet you. I sure hope that we can connect when we are both in Rochester.
(I'm a nurse) Are you the one who calls me in the lab and tells me my sample is hemolyzed or not enough? Grr. Lol 😉 Totally kidding! I really look forward to meeting you and getting to know you. Take care, and safe travels from New Orleans 🙂
