Skiing in Minnesota!
Hi there,
I'm new to Minnesota and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on the best places to ski in Minnesota/if there are any people out there who want to buddy up and travel to places on the weekends. I'm a Colorado skier at heart (love expert terrain), but my expectations aren't high for Minnesota skiing so any suggestions would be appreciated!

Welcome to MN! I would recommend Lutsen Mountains, near Lake Superior. Beautiful scenery, with the biggest and greatest variety of ski runs (it'll get you closer to the Colorado feel). Spirit Mountain in Duluth and Buck Hill in the Twin Cities (groomed Lindsey Vonn), and Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls are others I've skied and are worth mentioning. Down in Southern MN where I live, we have Mt Kato and Welch Village. Some steep and shorter runs, but the mogels keep you on your toes. Be aware that that if you want powder, get out there after a recent snowfall, otherwise you will need to learn to ski on our more hard-packed and sometimes icy terrain. I heard that Afton Alps has expanded their parks over in Hastings (under ownership of Vail Resorts). There's what's called an "Indy Pass" that's available. It provides two days each at 100+ independent resorts including new partners in the Upper Midwest, New England, and Pacific Northwest. May be worth checking out.
Welch Village! We have an AirBnB 20 min from there that is great for larger groups, too!
