Insurance enrollment problem for new employee's dependent

Hi, I'm the new employee in Phoenix campus. My appointment started last week. I summitted the insurance enrollment also covering my wife but received an email requesting SSN of my wife for her enrollment. The problem is that we came abroad and doesn't have the SSN currently. There are some urgent medical expenses expected in following weeks for my wife and applying for SSN usually needs couple weeks or months more. Does anyone meet with the similar problem or happen to know some other solutions for the quick insurance enrollment of new employee's dependent? Thanks!
