The gates

Hey everyone in Rochester. I am thinking of moving to Rochester this fall.(Moving from Winona) I had been looking at the Gates of Rochester but a lot of people say it is bad with crime. Has anyone else lived there or has heard anything? I am looking for a place that allows dogs (golden retriever) and is under 800.
Also I will be looking for a restaurant position, I have been a waitress for 14 years with a ton of experience. I am part time here at mayo so will need something else when it comes time to move. What are some good places to work that make a lot of tips but is also a fun environment. Do all restaurants tax on cash tips?
