Demonstration of High Diagnostic Accuracy for Cerebral Ischemia in a Large Telestroke Network

Telestroke facilitates emergent assessment of patients with suspected acute ischemic stroke (AIS) to identify candidates for immediate therapeutic interventions.  The most recent guidelines for the early management of patients with AIS recommend the use of telemedicine for emergent evaluation of patients with suspected AIS to allow expert-guided time-sensitive interventions such as intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) when resources do not allow for in-person acute neurologic evaluations.
