Mayo Clinic offers voluntary legal insurance through ARAG to give you more flexibility and choice as part of the overall staff benefits package.
You can elect legal insurance during open enrollment, Nov. 1–15, with coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2025. The monthly premium is $18.56 (post-tax) and includes coverage for you and your eligible dependents. If you are currently enrolled, your coverage will remain in place even if you don't complete open enrollment.

How does legal insurance work?
When you need help with your legal matter, you can start a case online using access code "18569mc" or by downloading the ARAG Legal app. You can also contact ARAG Customer Care and speak with a specialist who will confirm coverage and connect you with network attorneys near you who can offer legal counsel, review documents and represent you.
You select the network attorney you want to work with and communicate over the phone, virtually, via email or in-office. You can choose whatever's easiest for you.
What happens if my legal matter isn't fully covered by my legal insurance?
Sometimes, you may experience a situation that isn't completely covered by the legal insurance plan. If a matter isn't specifically covered (and not excluded under your plan), you are eligible to use the Reduced Fee Legal Services benefit to receive at least 25% off a network attorney's normal hourly rate.
If your legal matter is considered preexisting and not excluded under the legal insurance plan, you can receive free telephone advice from a network attorney under the Telephone Legal Access Services benefit. In addition, if you have not already retained an attorney, you may be eligible also to use the Reduced Fee Legal Services benefit.
