Pre-Application Checklist

1. Explore Opportunities. Review Mayo Clinic’s SkillBridge internship roles under the “Direct Patient Care” and “Admin & Support Services” tabs.

2. Confirm Eligibility. Ensure you meet the requirements for the role(s) you're interested in. You must be within 180 days of separation from service.

3. Coordinate with Your Transition Office. Consult your local Transition or Education Office for SkillBridge enrollment guidance and obtain verbal approval from your chain of command.

4. Prepare Your Resume. Tailor your resume to highlight how your education, skills, and experience align with the internship role.

Application & Selection Process

· Submit your online application at least 60 days before your desired start date. Some roles may have specific timelines—follow instructions under the appropriate tabs.

· Attach your tailored resume to your application.

· Mayo Clinic HR reviews applications and forwards qualified candidates to hosting departments.

· Departments contact applicants to schedule interviews.

· Selected applicants are notified and receive next-step instructions, including obtaining written approval from their Unit Commander and completing the SkillBridge Approval Form.

Preboarding & Onboarding

Preboarding may take up to 30+ days.

· Signed acceptance letter and SkillBridge Approval Form

· Background check

· Immunization records and TB test

· Mayo Clinic ID assignment and system access

· Welcome orientation packet from hosting supervisor

· Complete a feedback survey

· Participate in a career conversation with your supervisor
