@sportsmom

I am a teleworker and live in New York. My family loves the big Florida theme parks - Disney/ Universal and the Disney Cruise Line. We also like to discover cities - we've been to Boston, Baltimore, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, New York City (of course) and a few others along the east coast. We also like to follow our favorite NY sports teams and see away games when we can. We are planning to take our 14 yr old son to Toronto to see the Yankees play and to visit the NHL Hall of Fame. I also worked for a time as a travel agent, which was a fun, but very stressful job. I'd love to hear some ideas on city and/or sports related trips.

Sports related trips, @sportsmom? I could go on all day. I have been known to bribe my family to try new places. The bribe - a sporting event we can take in while we are there. 🙂 For example, we went to Hawaii a few years ago and went to the Pro Bowl football game. We all were winners. 🙂

My favorite sports trip we have taken was to California where we took in all 5 major league baseball fields in a 2-week timeframe. Very special trip where we focused on that, but saw and enjoyed many other things while we were there as well.

If you ever get to Minnesota, Target Field provides a GREAT baseball experience. We don't get to play the Yankees too many times during the summer, but it may be a great trip for you some summer. 🙂

Wow - all 5 ballparks? That sounds like an awesome trip. I am hoping to get them out to MN one of these years to take in a Twins game, even if the Yankees aren't in town. We are trying to get to Washington DC this summer and will try to get in either a Nationals game or a DC United soccer game. I would love your excuse to get to Hawaii! I admit I love seeing these games too. Our goal is to get to every baseball park in the MLB, but with my kids in Middle and HS it becomes very hard to find time to squeeze these in.

We have the same goal of getting to all of the MLB ballparks. We have probably been to over half by now, but will enjoy getting the other half taken care of over time.

Hi Karen! Sorry I'm so late to reply, but as a fellow NYer (Upstate) I feel like I would be remiss if I didn't suggest taking a route to Toronto that would allow you to stop by Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame! I grew up in this area of NY and it's beautiful - especially in the summer and fall! When my husband's family from MN all came out to NY for our wedding we planned an outing to Cooperstown and it was a hit! Definitely something every baseball fan should see if the opportunity presents itself!

@nreinardy, I totally agree that Cooperstown is a must see for sports enthusiasts. Very special place for those that love baseball and the rich history behind it.

We actually have been to Cooperstown, but it was probably about 5 or 6 years ago. We think my younger son may play in a tournament up there next summer, so we will hopefully go back at that point. We went to the NBA Hall of Fame a few weeks ago in Springfield, MA. It was nice, but very small. I would only recommend if you happen to be in that area, don't make a trip just to see it. Older son wants to get to NHL Hall of Fame in Toronto this summer, hopefully catch a Blue Jays game while we are there!
