Scottsdale

Hi all. I've been seeing and hearing a lot about a live venue in Scottsdale called BLK Live. Turns out this place is not far from my home and I am going there to see Morris Day and the Time on Saturday night! I'm SO excited! I will let you all know how it is. If anyone has been there already, let me know what you think. I believe this was Jillian's, many years ago, in the Scottsdale Airpark. We may have dinner on Saturday night before the show, also. They bring a ton of acts to this venue, many nights a week, so I'm excited that this is so close to home!

It's a great venue. Has a good restaurant inside. The concert area is outside and surrounds a swimming pool. There's a great winery just down the street...Desert Rock Winery. It doesn't look like much from the outside...in an industrial complex on Helm. But absolutely amazing wines, ciders, and (butterscotch flavored Headbanger whiskey). Were going to BLK to hear Candlebox in May.

We had a lot of fun, even though it was chilly and rainy the night we were there. Candlebox...that'll be a GREAT show! ENJOY! Thanks for the tip on the winery. Will have to check it out!!

Paul Hoffman (owner of desert Rock Winery) worked with Robert Mondavi. Grows his grapes in California but makes the wine in Scottsdale. Outstanding wines at reasonable price. Winery open for tasting on Friday evenings other times if you call first. Just secured a contract with Dave Ellefson of Megadeath to make coffee flavored ciders. Very cool local business.

That's super cool! Kind of like Maynard from Tool and his winery work he does (or has done) north of Phoenix!! Love it! Thanks!

Omg! Yes, like Maynard! Only Paul's wine is better!

I am a fan of many of the Stronghold wines, so now I need to try Paul's! GOOD to hear! Thanks!

Dear Trish, Music is Food 2 Me, especially Jazz, R&B and Blues. Being an AZ Native I also love Latino and 'Western' (aka Both Kinds: C&W-see Blues Bros Movie #1). Jealous and admiring your getting 2 see Morris Day...Cheers!

Hi Debbie. I love the "both kinds, country AND western" reference! 🙂 I know it well! Morris Day was back in January and we had a lot of fun at the show! I don't have any concerts lined up in the near future, but know we are going to see the Foo Fighters later this year. They are SO good live. I can't wait, even though I've seen them several times! 😉
