Utilizing Mayo's Moving Benefits

Posted by Alexis Hart @amhart, Jun 5, 2018

So, I am moving from Casper, WY to Rochester, MN. I definitely have a household worth of stuff to move and I am stoked about the option to use the movers. I have never done so before, so I am kind of nervous about the whole process. I don't want to mess part of it up and end up having to pay for the movers myself. Has anyone used the moving services that are offered? Do you have any tips/ suggestions to make to process work more smoothly.

I just used Mayflower through Rochester MN. It was the best decision I have done. The company works with you and ensures the proper paperwork has been submitted. The movers came in and packed up my entire house in about 6 hours. They were amazing. I didnt have to help at all. I would reccomend them.

I moved from MN to AZ 24 years ago, but I, too, used Mayflower. They were GREAT! I lived with a roommate and they came in and marked all my stuff with colored dot stickers and they took nothing of hers. I think we did our best to move her stuff aside, but still. No mix up and they actually beat us to my apartment! Only one thing broke and that was my fault. Should have taken a glass jug of change in my car, not a giant moving truck! At that time, they offered to unpack at your final destination and I opted out of that service. I wanted to know where stuff was, etc. 🙂 Good luck on your move!!

How far in advance did you have to schedule?

It's been too long for me, sorry, I do not remember. Fall of 1994 is a long time ago! 🙂 Maybe Marie could speak to that... @mmgengler ??

I contacted the a month ahead of time. But I'm not sure if that was necessary.

So, I'm nervous about scheduling it all on my own. I mean I know what the moving guide says, but I still feel really strange scheduling and doing it all myself without having to check with someone in HR. I'm afraid to not do it right and have Mayo not pay for it.

Have you finished all your onboarding? There is a form in there that you fill out for moving. I contacted HR and they told me to contact the moving company and the moving company contacts them. But, feel free to contact your hr rep because they are helpful.
