Rochester Housing
Hello All, I will be starting at Rochester Mayo in the Radiology department next week, I have a place to stay while I find an apartment of my own but just curious as to places to avoid and places that have worked well for others. Any input is greatly appreciated

I've heard to stay away from the RCTC area.
What does the RCTC area mean?
Rochester Community and Technical College. There's college housing nearby and surrounding housing. I've been told to not be in that area after dark. My roommate used to live in an apartment complex (not sure if it was just for college or open to others) and apparently one day she came home to find a bullet hole through the main window. Apparently there's a lot of "sketchy" things that happen in the area.
I've heard good things about the college, but not the housing area surrounding it.
Hi! I am coming from Williston, ND and will be starting at St. Marys Campus in Oct. I am planning to move in the area in Sept; looking for a studio or 1 BR apartment with in-unit W/D. Preferably within 15 to 30 min commute.
Welcome, @heatherfrances. I live north of Rochester and am not familiar with the neighborhoods in town, but here may be useful comments in this thread: https://connect.employees.mayo.edu/discussion/home-apartment-hunting/.
Hi @shine! I just saw you are from Williston, ND. I am from Plentywood, MT and spent a lot of time in Williston growing up. Good luck as you transition to Rochester and to your new position at Mayo. 🙂
Hi! I am looking for one more housemate, we are currently 2 females, one student & one working professional. I have a large bedroom available, you would share a new bathroom with one other female. We all share the laundry room (W/D) kitchen, living room & sun porch. You could ea;l or the Mayo bus stops right in front of the house and I believe it is free to Mayo employees. Please contact me for questions. D.
My house is located in a quiet safe neighborhood, near the Mayo, where people are comfortable to walk around even at night.
