As I look forward into my training activities for the week, I see tomorrow is a cross training day. Can you suggest what that may look like, @fritschechad, for a beginner?

When it comes to Cross Training, you want to try for non-weight bearing exercises to give your joints some rest yet still get a great cardiovascular workout in. My top choices are: biking (recumbent, upright, or outdoors), swimming, rowing, or a good water workout. Hope that helps?
