Why be a Nurse - because I fell in love with helping others. Why work at Mayo - At first I was just happy to get a job, I had just moved to Phoenix and the job I moved here for fell through because of a hiring freeze. It took a couple days for the "Mayo" part to sink in. While going through the first week of orientation I realized that I was working for the "Disney" of healthcare. The history, the why behind it, the innovation, all those amazing breakthroughs that all started with one man. I worked for the Mouse many years back, and as an employee for both companies, you can see that the companies care for who works for/with them. They know that without the employees they couldn't do what they strive to do and that is why they try and take such good care or them. I have been blessed to work some amazing people, and it is lovely to watch the interactions, even when sad, between the employees and the patients.
