A key WHY for me is helping others. I am a teacher by trade and am now blessed to help others improve the experience they have working at Mayo.

This is such a GREAT challenge and way to help us all appreciate the great work we do and why we do it. Thanks and I am looking forward to seeing other people's WHY!

Every day, I am going to challenge myself to ask others about their WHY and encourage them to share it here. 🙂

Why Work? To make a difference through constant improvement . . . of myself, with those around me and in the way that we do our work. To be externally smart, future focused and internally applicable. Driving meaningful change that once was never thought possible.

Why work? I feel like I'm contributing to a greater whole that is so much bigger than myself. I love teamwork and being able to lend my knowledge and skills while being surrounded with people that I'm constantly learning from and being sharpened by as a person.

Here's my WHY: As an editor in the consumer books area, I have the honor of creating content that will help people everywhere. Serving on a team with amazing, talented, and caring people who are all committed to the mission of helping others in this way is a gift every single day.

I support trainees and fellowship programs. I love the opportunity to see them grow and relate to and teach others in Faculty Development. As a previous teacher I thrive on regular interactions in setting goals and improving the way we work. Mayo Clinic is based upon the principle of the patient comes first. I love having the continued opportunity to share learning and development in those working directly/indirectly with the patients, as that gives me fulfillment in what I do.
