New Employee - Lactation Rooms (Rochester)
Hi! I am a new employee and will be starting June 3rd. Are there lactation rooms located in the Harwick Building?

@deborahjbir, thank you! Are sign-ups required or are rooms available first come, first served?

Do you need to schedule times to use lactation rooms?
I’ll be starting at Mayo in Rochester in June- with a 12-week old in daycare, so I am completely clueless on where things are in my area and the standard for using the lactation rooms.
Hi! Sorry for the super-delayed reply! Hopefully you are able to see this response before you return (congrats on the new little one!)! Typically rooms are first-come, first-served. A few rooms have a sign up posted on the door if someone has coordinated that, but that's the minority of rooms. Most rooms have some sort of dry erase board or paper that will indicate when the user has gone in or will be finished up so you can time out when it might be available again. Hopefully you were able to access the link in the thread above to the room locations across the Rochester campus - if not, please let me know and we'll get those over to you somehow. You can bring your own tubing, etc. that is compatible with the provided hospital-grade pump or you can bring your own pump (there are plug-ins). There's a sink in or right outside the pumping room. You may want to put a couple napkins/washcloths in with your pumping supplies just in case you need to wipe up a quick spill and can't reach the sink right away. Let us know if you have other questions about using the rooms!
Take care - and welcome back soon!
