Suggestion regarding a flat in Rochester.

Posted by Jose Morales @jmorales182, Feb 11, 2021

Hi there.

My name is Jose and I am moving to Rochester to work at the Guggenheim Building.

I am moving from another country and I would like to know some suggestions regarding the city and where I can live.

I saw that around the building, the rents are among $700 to $1,000 per month. Are they a regular price? Expensive or cheap?

The rents a little so far from the building have a similar price. If I decide to rent a flat so far from the building, It is possible to use a bike or is better to use local buses?

Finally, is there any area where is no the best option to rent?

Thanks for your time

Jose'

Hi Jose! Welcome to Rochester! I also work at the Guggenheim. I rent a studio apartment, not too far from Downtown (but too far for me to go walking) and it's way more expensive than that, so I believe those are good values. Mayo offers a lot of shuttle buses, but there are not many offered but the city itself, so check if there is shuttle coming from these buildings. My building (The Park, at the Kutzky park) offers free shuttle, that leaves us by walking distance from the Guggenheim and other Mayo buildings.
Some people use bike, but consider that the winter is tough and it's hard to bike in snowing days!
