Health Insurance Plan - J1 Holder

Posted by sheriefghozy @sheriefghozy, Mar 17, 2021

Greetings Everyone.

I am coming to Mayo next month on a J1 visa for a research position.

I need to buy a health insurance and I have no idea which company is trusted and what to choose. Ideally, I need something affordable and with a smooth online platform.

The requirements are: "minimum coverage must provide medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness; repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000; expenses associated with medical evacuation to the exchange visitor’s home country in the amount of $50,000; and deductibles cannot exceed $500 per accident or illness"

I hope you can help me on this regard.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi, I definitely recommend to contact insurance brokers which have an access to multiple insurances. Doing so you would save a lot of money, time and you can choose the product which serves you the best. I personally have used Atlas Insurance Brokers and Zander for all my insurance needs and it has been very positive experience. You could contact also to MinnesotaCare Operations, even if your income is higher than their limits, they will help you to find another reasonable priced health insurance. Good luck!

Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.

Do you have any other contact method? I am not in US yet so, phone calls would not be the best option.

If you would have any contacts, it would be great. Otherwise, I can do some online searching.
