Uniforms

Posted by Kaitlin Marrache @kdawg18, Aug 4, 2018

Hey all! New here to Mayo, I start on the 27th as a Patient Appointment Specialist and I was curious as to what the uniform entails. All I know about is is that we have to wear black. I’d like to get my stuff ordered so I’m ready to go for the 27th, so any direction as to what I’m supposed to be ordering would be MUCH appreciated!

Thank you!

I wish I knew whether Patient Appointment Specialists use scrubs or not, but i'd recommend checking the Dress and Decorum policy. It may have something useful. If you have questions, though, the best thing is to ask the manager directly to see what they consider to be appropriate for your work area.

I will attach a copy of the DaD policy they gave me when I was rotating here in Jacksonville, so these guidelines may be more helpful than those of other locations, and there's also this link : https://careerawareness.mayoclinic.org/hubcap/dress-decorum/

Hope it helps!

We don’t wear scrubs that I know of. I actually read the DaD and I just still wasn’t sure of what was acceptable or not. I’ll reach out to my super and see what she says. I just don’t remember where they told us to get uniforms at or what to get. I didn’t want to show up not within dress code and looking strange lol thanks for the help.

Hi Kaitlin I also will be a patient appointment specialist and I am pretty sure that she stated that we will be in black pants/slacks and black comfortable shoes (I would assume maybe some flats to start off with). Hope this helps!

Glad to meet a fellow patient apt specialist! I do remember her saying that about the black slacks and black shoes - was wondering if they had anything specific in mind in regards to those or if just any dress pants and black shoes would do (Obv not sneakers or anything casual like that).

As for the shirts - is it just the blue button down that they listed online? When I went to All Wear Uniforms they 1. Didn’t have any sizes other than xs or 2xl+ and 2. Only long sleeve. When I spoke with HR after they had mentioned some people having short sleeves or 3/4th - so it so I’m wondering if that’s also an option for us. Clearly I have no clue what’s going on lol I just want to make sure I’m buying the right things (stuff isn’t cheap) and will be showing up in the proper attire! Never had to wear uniforms like this before and so I’m just used to dressing professionally in my own outfits.

The uniforms are very old fashioned.I have never seen a housekeeper/ Environmental Service wear anything look like that. The uniforms is terrible, Even other people that work for Mayo Clinic say the dresses uniforms is awful. Please let the Environmental Service vote on real scrubs. Those scrubs is hot 🔥 hot 🔥. Baptist and other Hospital wear real scrubs, not church scrubs.. That's why Mayo Clinic do have enough housekeeping. This is 2021 not 1950'S. Please change those uniforms please please and Thank You
