Winter Sports (Rochester)

Posted by Reza Roshandel Moghaddam @bryanhart, Nov 13, 2021

I am new to Rochester and I was thinking of a group for winter sports. Is there such a group at Mayo? BTW, is anyone aware of places -of course affordable ones!- to learn and practice winter sports like skiing, snowboarding?
Thank you!

I would like to join! I've done snowboarding in Flagstaff AZ and as a kid in the Poconos of PA.

This is a great idea and sounds like a lot of fun! I just had someone tell me Welch Village is pretty good in the area, nothing too steep or crazy for learning.

So, have any ideas where or how to build a group for that?

And.... since maybe many of us have had no experience earlier, there's a need to learn about clothing and equipment @derrikhuisman

I would love to join the group too. I have zero experience but would love to learn. Iā€™m new to living up in the cold, but I hear some people do cross country skiing too

I also love this idea! I live near a sports/ski store so I can stop in and inquire as to the best spots to check out for outdoor sports, and perhaps if they know of ways for us to learn. I mostly do cross country skiing but would be interested in learning something new as well.

Hi! this sounds fun, I would also love to join šŸ™‚ We can probably start by creating group chat and brain storm and do some research if we're really interested? šŸ™‚

I heard quarry hills offers snowshoeing and theres an hr drive for skiing/snowboarding from Rochester šŸ™‚
