Post Offer Placement Assessment POPA

Posted by Nicholas G @nikolaijg, Oct 2, 2018

I see this mentioned multiple times in all the packets I am receiving as I am going through the new employee paperwork but nowhere does it seem to explain what this is and how to schedule for it. I have seen a few tips that say to schedule my HR appointment to coincide with my POPA but I still haven't heard any word on what it is or how to schedule for it if necessary. Has anyone done the POPA that can give me a basic run down and how you were able to schedule for it? Thanks!

Heyy, I am new hire of Mayo and about to have my POPA in 2 weeks. Was wondering if the POPA appointment is free of charge. Do I have to pay for the TB test or any kinds of unexpected medical tests? Thank you

No, you don’t have to pay for anything. If you have your immunizations, all they do is TB gold test and your drug screen.

They gonna pay for all your test, you will receive phone call from HR to schedule an appointment at the nearest authorized lab at your state.

Is it possible to do your TB test somewhere other than during your POPA? I scheduled my flights prior to scheduling the POPA and currently did not book the 48-72 hours post to read the test. I can change my flights, but just checking if I can do that at home before I do that.

At my POPA they tested for TB through a blood test so I didn’t need to come back to get anything read.

Hi what if a new hiree does not have any immunization record (except COVID)? Unfortunately, my parents lost mine long ago and could not find any records 🙁

I had the very same question. I asked HR and this was the response I received:

No worries at ALL if you don’t have your shot records from childhood. What they do is draw labs for the titer/immunity. No worries at all. If you are covid vaxxed, please take your shot record for that

You should have received an email after your job offer to schedule both. I would contact your recruiter and they can get that email sent to you. It’s all scheduled online.

If that’s the case, you would go to your nearest LabCorp or quest diagnostics and request what’s called a titer for each immunization they’re requesting.
