I see this mentioned multiple times in all the packets I am receiving as I am going through the new employee paperwork but nowhere does it seem to explain what this is and how to schedule for it. I have seen a few tips that say to schedule my HR appointment to coincide with my POPA but I still haven't heard any word on what it is or how to schedule for it if necessary. Has anyone done the POPA that can give me a basic run down and how you were able to schedule for it? Thanks!
As a new Mayo Clinic employee you will receive an email from “MayoClinicCareers” inviting you to our Onboard system. This account is different/separate from the account that you used to apply for the job. After setting up your account, you will be presented with a series of tasks. As you complete these core tasks, additional position/location specific tasks will be assigned in the Onboard system, such as information related to your post-offer placement assessment, the Human Resources (HR) appointment, benefits and Mayo Clinic Orientation (MCO) (if applicable) .
The Post Offer Placement Assessment (POPA) is the visit with Occupational Health Services to ensure that you can perform the physical requirements of the job, complete a urine drug screen, and a TB skin test. Please note, the POPA and HR scheduling process will vary across Mayo Clinic sites. The following information provided below is specific to Rochester as next steps for you.
• Information regarding the POPA will be provided in the Onboard system
• You will also be receiving an email from Occupational Health Services with a link to self-schedule your POPA online.
• Once you have scheduled this appointment, you may mark the task complete in Onboard.
• The POPA appointment consists of two parts:
o A nurse consult which is located in the Eisenberg building.
o An updated immunization record will be required. You will need to print your immunization record on your own and bring it with you. We are not able to print it for you at your appointment.
o After the nurse consult, you will visit the lab in the Baldwin building where the urine drug screen and TB Skin Test are administered.
You may find it helpful to schedule your POPA appointment with Occupational Health and your HR appointment consecutively; however this is not a requirement. If you are planning to coordinate times, it is recommended to provide at least 1.5 hours to meet with Occupational Health and 15 – 30 minutes to meet with HR reception.
Hope you find this information helpful!

Hello,I just finished the POPA appointment recently. In my opinion, it is an assessment for your immune condition to multiple infectious diseases, such as TB,measles, tetanus…They will ask for you previous immune record for the required diseases, but it is OK if you do not have, they will test and give vaccine. I remember I got a separate email including the link to schedule the appointment, and after scheduled, you will receive another confirm email.
