Colleague Connection

Posted by Marianne Goettig @marianneg316, Sep 11, 2020

Many of our staff have expressed feeling of isolation and loss of connection with their colleagues. Some ideas our well-being champions came up with the  help build connections while social distancing include:

Drive-in movie night in the parking lot
Happy hour zooms
Tailgate talks to meet in parking lot and everyone stay distanced
Text or message board within our department for non-work fun communication (kids, gifs).
Walking meetings using cell phones
Send personal cards to home to build teamwork

Share what your work unit has done to build connections

Love the idea of sending personal cards to home to build teamwork! Are we able to use our travel cards to get reimbursed for the postage?

Hey everyone! Another way that people can connect and be active is by joining my colleagues, Drew, Lynne and Kelly, and I for Zoom classes. It is free to join from anywhere! Check out our website with class descriptions and the schedule. https://dahlc.mayoclinic.org/2020/07/08/lets-get-virtual-virtual/
We have a weekend fitness event planned for this Saturday at 8:30am CST. There are 28 spots left! Come check us out!

One of the more simple things our team does is starting out the day with a good morning over Skype. That simple touch point to connect on a work as well as a personal level goes a long way.

Our work unit just recently started a persistent chat via Skype where we can all go in and share tips, tricks, or just catch up. We also send out a daily self-care action to all team members to practice, we are calling it "The Daily".
