Computers in Lactation Rooms
I'm a current PGY-4 and rising chief resident in radiation oncology. I also became a mom 6 months ago! I frequently use the lactation rooms in the Jacobson building. I've talked with many residents, nurses, APPs etc who feel that having access to a desktop or laptop computer would significantly increase our ability to stay actively involved in our clinical duties while pumping. What can happen is pumping can get delayed because of the need to wrap up a clinical task prior to going to the lactation room. As you probably know, delaying pumping repeatedly can lead to things like a lower milk supply and can also be frustrating for all parties. I feel strongly and think it's reasonable to be able to do both!
