Thumb sucking

My 5 year old sucks his thumb and we are trying to get him to stop. Any tips, tricks or ideas on how to help him stop?

I had a nail biter. Two things worked for us:

1. Thum: a product that you put on their nails/thumb that is safe to ingest but tastes TERRIBLE!
2. Incentive: if he stopped, he got a meaningful reward.

I had a nail biter. Two things worked for us:

Thanks for the recommendation...... he chose what his reward would be...a puppy! you think that would be enough of an incentive but he just cannot seem to stop. 🙂
