Dreams come true

Posted by Treasure Ransom @transom, May 4, 2018

Being a huge baseball fan and currently planning a trip to take my kids to Fenway Park in Boston this summer, I really loved the recent This Week at Mayo Clinic article about Dr. Noseworthy throwing the first pitch at a recent Red Sox game. He mentioned it was a dream come true. I bet it was!

I would love to learn more about our fellow #WeAreMayoClinic members.

I would love to go visit the place in Italy where my grandparents came from.

Fenway is awesome - even from this Yankee fan. We've discussed our baseball travels in the past Treasure... try to get the tour of Fenway if you can. If I remember correctly they are offered on game days, it's very cool. We have tentative plans to see the Yankees play in Philadelphia at the end of June, and I am going to try and get my 16 year old to Toronto this summer as well to see a Blue Jays game. That should complete the East Coast ballparks for us - time to head west!!

We will definitely look into the Fenway tour, @sportsmom! Thanks for the tip. Are there any other tips you could provide for the East Coast ballparks you have visited? We are looking into the following:
*Camden Yards/Baltimore
*Mets Stadium/New York
*PNC Park/Pittsburg
*National's Park in DC
*Philadelphia
*Cincinnati

Thanks!

Hi sorry I didn't respond sooner. Camden Yards is beautiful. It is within walking distance to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore where there are tall ships, restaurants, shops and the Baltimore aquarium. Also, near the stadium is Babe Ruth's birthplace, which is the house he was born in and it's open as a small museum.
Citifield, where the Mets play, is another really great ballpark, lots to see and do, great food. It's in Queens, which is east of Manhattan, but it shares property with the US Open Tennis Courts. If you have any interest in that at all, the Open happens every August, you can probably get tickets for both events. Queens has a few museums and sights, but obviously Manhattan is the big draw if you were coming in to town.
The only other ballpark on this list that I've been to is National's Park, We were there last summer. We bought tickets off a guy in the street (yes I know, not always the best idea), but we got a great deal and really good seats in left field. It's in a nice area near a Metro station and Washington DC is just such a fantastic city, we were there for 3 days and barely saw what we wanted to see.
We are planning to go to Citizens Bank Park in Phili either in late June or in August. I'll let you know how that is afterward. We are hoping to hit the west coast next summer but that's just in the discussion phase at this point!

Took the Fenway Ballpark tour today and thankfully the weather cooperated enough for the game this afternoon. Loving every minute of it, @sportsmom!

Yes, we went to Friday’s game. So fun! The weather wasn’t looking good and all of a sudden, it just cleared up and we never looked back.
