I am trying to get pumped up to do some spring cleaning. What types of spring cleaning activities take place in your household? How do you engage your children in the effort? Any tips to take the mundane out of it would be appreciated.
My husband and I have moved 11 times in 19 years, so we have decluttered pretty regularly 🙂 I don’t do much for deep cleaning at spring time — in our house, that’s facilitated by loud music and prompted by the anticipation of company! However, we do regularly set aside items we’re not using or clothes the kids have outgrown to donate.
My kids are not so interested in cleaning or getting rid of things. The younger one (6 years) is motivate if cleaning/donating means making room for something new. The older one (12 years) is motivated by money. Often, my husband and I get more done if we tackle these projects when the kids are staying with grandparents .. and then reward ourselves with dinner out 🙂
