Remembering the Franciscan Spirit: the Value of Integrity

May 3, 2019 | Treasure Ransom | @transom

The Mayo Clinic Values Council invites you to remember that the spiritual roots of our Mayo founders, Dr. W.W. Mayo and Mother Alfred Moes, OSF are as relevant and important as ever to the care our patients receive.  Today the Mayo/Franciscan Values thrive in an environment that recognizes that spirituality is an integral dimension of compassionate care and healing.

Integrity: Adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and personal responsibility, worthy of the trust our patients place in us.

Integrity

WW Mayo: recognized that all are called to live lives of honesty, openness, and authenticity, showing consistency between our beliefs and the way we live. A person needs to be truly in harmony with oneself, and to be whole spiritually one needs to live one’s beliefs.

Mother Alfred: Followed St. Francis’ spirit, “We must never desire to be above others, but, instead, we must be servants and subject to every human creature. Everything Saint Francis said in word, he would first, with eagerness and affection, show them in deed."
