I currently work at the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. Like many others here, I classify myself as a 'helper'. It's so rewarding to help people feel good and feel good about themselves and that's really what I want to do with my life in general, both personally and professionally. The position I'm in now gives me the great opportunity to do that.

Tobacco use causes more than 7 million deaths a year worldwide. Most families, including mine, have lost someone to tobacco-related disease. Making cessation support more broadly available can help avoid many of these deaths.
I manage Global Bridges, a grant-funded international network of health care professionals around the world who are passionate about this issue. Since 2010, this program, which is based at Mayo Clinic, has reached tens of thousands of health care professionals with training programs to help them provide more comprehensive cessation support for their patients who use tobacco. I am extremely motivated by the success stories we hear from our colleagues around the world – and by the way network members have shared their learning with each other to improve the overall quality of care.
The people I have the privilege to work with through this program are absolutely world-class. While the network spans the globe, our members are in constant contact to support and inspire each other.

Why I like my work at Mayo Clinic - carrying on our roots and how our clinic was founded and carrying on the legacy of the needs of the patient come first. This is such a powerful statement and really resonates with me as an employee. I have worked in several different roles within Mayo and I have this motto at the back of my head in all my actions. What can we do to make the patient experience better and improve on those patients we don't give that standard of care they expect from coming to see us. Now, I am out in the Mayo Clinic Health System and I speak passionately about my time as a Mayo Clinic employee with my colleagues out here who still have their doubts. I love all my co-workers and feel we hire awesome individuals and provide great services throughout...that is my why!
