Role call, and welcome new members!

Happy Friday, everyone! I've noticed a number of new followers in the past week or so. Welcome! How about a role call to introduce ourselves?
Where you're working, where you're from, one question for others, and one surprising/interesting fact about yourself.

I’m new and honored to be here. Newly hired at the Phoenix location as a Phlebotomist. I just moved to Arizona from California, where I was born and raised for 30 years. My husband and I decided to embark on this new journey of ours with our children. I am also a recent LVN/LPN grad and awaiting to take my state boards. I am excited to get started

Welcome, @andreacosta1988! I'm in Rochester but have visited the Arizona sites twice -- it's such a nice area.

My family just visited Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach earlier this month. It was the first time our kids (7 and 13) and I had been in California, though my husband's been to San Diego and LA before. How old are your children?

Hello Everyone,

I will be starting at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale as an RN in the ambulatory cardiology unit on July 16th and I'm really looking forward to it. My family and I are very excited about relocating to Arizona from Texas in June.

What are fun things to do with an eight year old in Phoenix? Something unique about me is that I was born in England and raised in Holland.

Love being part of this amazing organization!!

Welcome, @shcason! Good luck with your upcoming move.

I'm in Rochester and have just visited Phoenix twice (quick trips), so hopefully one of our Arizona friends can recommend some activities for your eight-year-old.

Cool fact about you (being born in England and raised in Holland). We have some world travelers who post in the Travel discussion group; you may be able to add your insights to a thread there, https://connect.employees.mayo.edu/group/travel-20c50c/.

That’s awesome! I definitely miss the beaches. It’s a big adjustment but I’m enjoying it so far. I have 4 boys, 10,9, 4 & 2. I am a very busy mother as you can imagine, but it’s always an adventure with them.

– I have been at Mayo for 16 years, all in Rochester, and work in Employee Experience within Human Resources. I commute from Austin, about 50 miles from Rochester.
– I have officially lived in Minnesota longer than where I grew up, a small town in the NE corner of Montana.
– Question for others: What is your favorite hobby?
– Fact: I am a farmer's daughter and proud of it!

Hi Treasure! Miss you! 🙂
I probably have too many hobbies to list, but here are some: music/concerts, reading, walking/running, traveling and I love hanging with friends over a nice glass of wine or a good IPA!

I'll get us started 🙂

- I've been at Mayo for almost 2.5 years, so still "new" in Mayo tenure, and work in Communications in Rochester.
- I came to Mayo by way of Salt Lake City, Utah, area, though was born and raised in southwest Minnesota.
- Question for others: What's your favorite movie?
- Fact: I have a twin sister. (No, not identical.)

Welcome @shcason ! I do not have children, but my friends that have kids love our water parks. They are open now (a little early) through the fall. I love The Phoenix Zoo and Wildlife World Zoo. There are fun things there for children as well! We also have Odysea and Butterfly World that I like and I think kids would, too! Sorry I cannot speak to a whole lot more than that! 🙂

Hello!
My name is Hannah and I am a new hire at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in Florida! I'm starting as a Patient Appointment Specialist for the newly built hematology/oncology and neurology building starting in about a week. I am so very excited!
I was born and raised in Jacksonville Florida, so no need to move for the job 🙂
my question is "what is your favorite thing about where you are geographically?"
My interesting fact would be that I used to own a beautiful norwegian forest cat (seriously look them up) and he weighed about 25 lbs; also my last name originates from czechoslovakia (Trubica)
It is a pleasure to meet ya'll!

Hello everyone!
My name is Jake, and I am graduating from nursing school in May from Mount Mercy University. I am originally from Sumner, a small town in Northeast Iowa, but have been living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the last five years. I have recently accepted a job for Mayo Clinic hospital at the St. Mary's Campus. I will be starting my nurse residency and my career as an RN in Surgical Neurology 9th floor Mary Brigh building. My question is what is your favorite thing about the Rochester area? An interesting fact about me is that I am obsessed with Welsh Corgis. I hope to have two of them one day and name them "Braxton" and "Hicks" Glad to meet you!

Welcome, Jake! I love the names you plan to give your future Corgis. 🙂 Are you sure you aren't working as an RN in OB? 🙂

In Surgical Neurology, you will get to work with some phenomenal staff. A family member of mine was on that unit after surgery. She was so pleased with her care and the surgical team.

As for a favorite thing in the area - we love the smaller feel to the community, yet have easy access to almost anything we could want/need in the twins cities. We are a BIG sports family so having MN sports so close and having our kids participate in competitive sports in the area is great for us.
