What are you reading?

Posted by Treasure Ransom @transom, Mar 16, 2017

I am a big reader and am always looking for book recommendations! @sportsmom and @amdow have both mentioned they are readers. Who else likes to read and what are you reading right now?

I am listening to an audiobook called "The Sender". It is a great book about a football coach that is struggling with a cancer diagnosis and very aggressive chemotherapy. He receives anonymous letters that test him and strengthen him during his difficult journey. The letters were actually written and sent to an NFL coach going through a similar situation, but the story around the character in "The Sender" is fictional. Touching story. I am probably 1/3 of the way through and am enjoying it so far.

Feel free to share what you are reading and why you would or wouldn't recommend it. All genres are fair game! 🙂

Just started A Wrinkle in Time on audible. The movie is coming out soon and I want to be ready. I know...it's a kids book...but, it was my absolute favorite book as a child.

How is the narrator of the audio version, @hrtkate? For me, that makes all the difference! If the narrator is good (like the narrator of the Harry Potter series who totally made each character come to life), I may just have to take a listen. 🙂

I love reading books then going to the movie. It is fun to see what I envisioned matching (or not) the scenes on the big screen. I bought Wonder and have to read that so I can watch the movie. I heard both were really good.

I love books by Nicholas Sparks. His most recent, Two By Two, is the book I'm currently reading. It is about a man whose life is upended by starting over his career, as his wife transitions from being a stay-at-home mother to re-entering the workplace. She ends up leaving her husband and that is where I currently am - about halfway through the book. I always regret reaching the end of his books as I then have to wait for another to come out!

I have enjoyed many Nicholas Sparks books too, @alifriedrich. He has a formula for writing that works for many! 🙂

Have you read See Me? This is the most recent Sparks book I have read and it was very good.

@transom My boys read Wonder, I have not yet. They enjoyed it. I am not a big audio book girl but, I figure it can get me out of my comfort zone....right? Especially, since the print version has been sitting on my bedside table for MONTHS! 🙂

Has anyone followed https://www.instagram.com/reesesbookclubxhellosunshine/ She posts new reads every month. Then typically posts about the authors and other enjoyable content. I am a few month's behind as I am reading the November pick, This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett. It isn't what you think...it examines the authors commitments from her childhood to adulthood. Very interesting!

I follow a few book clubs on Instagram (Reese Witherspoon's as you mentioned and also a book of the month club). I get a lot of ideas to add to my TO READ list in Goodreads! I don't belong to the clubs, I just sort of stalk them, I guess. HAHA

I am so thankful for GoodReads! I love that I can track books I have read, those I want to read, etc. Love it!

I haven't followed that on Instagram, but it looks interesting!

That's awesome, Sarah! I haven't looked into this book. Is it a true story or fiction. Sounds like it keeps you on your toes from page to page!

It's fiction and I have to say I'm almost done with it and it's gotten quite dark! But still good.
